Remedies Rooted in Place
The mountains are wise to your body's needs. Montana's wild plants—St. John's Wort in high meadows, horsetail along stream beds, balsam root on windswept hills—hold medicine that predates pharmacies by millennia. ForestFolk Provisions brings that medicine to you through salves, soaps, oils, and liniments crafted with foraged and locally grown ingredients whenever possible.
For Bodies That Work
Our handcrafted herbal remedies
At Hidden Moon, we don't just make herbal products—we participate in relationship with the land we call home. Each salve, soap, and oil begins with feet in soil, foraging plants that rise and fall each season. Our recipes carry the potency of place: arnica from wooded slopes, cottonwood resin gathered in early spring, beeswax still fragrant with propolis. Participate in medicine that works into muscle and skin and spirit.
Herbal salves & balms
For inflammation, pain, wounds that need tending. We infuse herbs—arnica, calendula, St. John's wort and more—in rich oils and local beeswax until the plants render their medicine. What remains is potent relief you can feel working.
Soaps & liniments
Herbal soaps made with goat milk from nearby farms—plants and cream meeting to cleanse without stripping the skin of tenderness. Liniments sink deep to where relief is needed. This is the strong clarity of plants that refuse to be ignored, reminding your tissues they're alive and capable of mending.
Body oils & mists
Gentle Floral Body Oil for the daily work of tending skin. Queen of Hungary mist—witch hazel we extract ourselves, steeped with blossoms, citrus and nourishing herbs. These are offerings of worship your body deserves.
Reconnect with the land
When you work a ForestFolk salve into your skin, you're not just easing an ache—you're absorbing the essence of Montana's wild plants. Your body remembers what modern life has made us forget: we belong to this place, and it provides for us.
Woven into every product is an intention to strengthen local land relations. When we forage respectfully, work with seasonal rhythms, and craft remedies from these mountains, we're participating in reciprocity. The land provides; we commit to honoring and stewarding it in return.
Reciprocity, Not Extraction
We forage according to the Honorable Harvest—never taking more than half, never the first plant we see, never without gratitude. Some herbs we grow ourselves. The beeswax comes from local hives, some from our own hands sticky with honey and effort.
When you use a ForestFolk salve, you're entering into this reciprocity. The land provides; we receive with reverence; you participate by choosing remedies rooted in place. This is how we strengthen land relations—one jar, one application, one moment of presence at a time.
For Working Bodies, and Bodies That Work.
If your hands ache from labor, your back protests the day's demands, your skin bears the marks of weather and time—these remedies are for you. They address common complaints. But more than this, they address disconnection. We want our people to have their bodies function well doing what they love--Bodies That Work.
Modern culture has severed us from the knowledge that medicine grows at our feet. We've been taught to ignore plants, to distrust our own capacity to heal, to reach for sterile solutions over living ones. ForestFolk Provisions is an invitation to remember differently.
